ITry looking up your ancestors on the Boat Records of Ellis Island or Ancestry.  If you are not sure of when they arrived, try starting with the Census. It will tell you the year of their arrival. It's also imortant to note that the boar records will have their original name in Italian. So Joseph will be Giuseppe. John will be Giovanni, James will be Vincenzo(this one is tricky). The boat record will tell you the town of your ancestors birth.

Once you find the town of birth, you can even see the Italian Phone Books, to find out of some of your relatives are still living in Italy in your Paese.  You can also see where your town is located on a Map of Italy
